Per IGNOU's official MSCDSA programme page and Programme Guide, the eligibility rule is refreshingly simple, and deliberately broader than MCA_NEW's:

• Eligibility: Bachelor degree of at least 3 years' duration from a recognized University/Institution — any discipline is accepted, there is no compulsory Mathematics or Computer Science background, and no bridge/foundation courses are required.
• Medium of Instruction: English (course material is in English)
• Admission basis: Direct, on eligibility — there is no entrance exam

IGNOU's official MSCDSA programme page states the fee clearly, and it is notably simpler than MCA_NEW's, since there are no bridge-course or category-based add-ons:

• Programme duration: Minimum 24 months, Maximum 48 months
• National students: ₹13,000 per semester × 4 semesters = ₹52,000 total programme fee (excluding registration and development fee)

7. ABC ID & DEB ID — why you can't skip them

Two IDs are compulsory for any fresh IGNOU admission, MSCDSA included:

• APAAR/ABC ID: A national academic-credit identity created through DigiLocker under NEP 2020. • Each course (except the Project) is evaluated on two components: continuous assessment through one comprehensive Assignment, worth 30% weightage (which includes a compulsory viva-voce), and a Term-End Examination (TEE), worth 70% weightage.
• A 4-credit theory course is marked out of 100; a 2-credit lab course out of 50; the 12-credit Project is marked out of 200. Marks across all semesters add up to a maximum of 1900.

9. The exit option — PG Diploma in Data Science and Analytics

This is one of MSCDSA's more distinctive features compared to older IGNOU postgraduate programmes. In line with the National Education Policy (NEP) framework, MSCDSA offers a built-in flexible exit: a learner who successfully completes all courses of the first two semesters (40 credits) becomes eligible for the award of a Post Graduate Diploma in Data Science and Analytics, without needing to complete the full two-year programme.
