Note: Attempt five questions in all, selecting at least two

answered in about 400 words. All questions carry
equal marks.
SECTION I
Q1.Analyse the changes in the pattern of State politics in India since the 1960s.
Q2.Briefly describe the Constitutional mechanisms for resolution of Inter-State conflicts in India.
Q3.Examine the reasons for the demand of Statehood.
Q4.Critically examine the major determinants of electoral behaviour in India.
Q5.Discuss the developments in Indian politics that have transformed party system in the Indian States since the 1980s.
SECTION II
Q6.Write short notes on the following in about 200 words each :
(a) Self-determination movements
(b) Social capital framework for studying State politics
Q7.Discuss the impact of globalisation on State politics in India.
Q8.Examine the reasons for the persistence of Inter-State water disputes.
Q9.Discuss the patterns of politics of ethnic minorities in Indian States.
Q10.Examine the reasons for the assertion of backward classes in Indian politics. What impact does this have on Indian politics and society ?
